Caster Church, Peterborough. The angel roof was put in around 1450 and restored 1973.

During the reign of the early Stuarts worship became more traditional and catholic in style again. Altars were railed in at the East end in the chancel for the first time in order to prevent the farmers’ dogs from fouling the altar cloths, so clearly dogs accompanied their masters to church.
